DJI Ronin 4D, a new camera genre; Glimpse of rotating future

DJI introduces its first rotating camera DJI Ronin 4D acing in terms of looks, specifications, and versatility. Ronin 4D design dimension

The DJI Ronin 4D is a lightweight camera with an overall weight of 4.67kg. It includes gimbal weight of 1.04 kg and main body weight of approximately 1.45kg. Moreover, the camera arrives with a main body dimension of 235× 115× 160mm. And, overall size measures 309× 290× 277 mm in dimension. Furthermore, the camera has a carbon fiber and aluminum magnesium alloy body making it lightweight and stylish.

Ronin 4D imaging system

The Ronin 4D new full frame Zenmuse X9 gimbal camera arrives in 8k and 6K models giving cinematic quality video. Moreover, the camera has a 35mm full-frame CMOS sensor with DX mount and DL mount. The camera sensor has autofocus, manual, automated manual focus features with Apple ProRes RAW recording format. However, this Apple ProRes RAW is no longer supported in the camera. In addition, the camera has dynamic 8k supports up to 8K/ 75fps. And 6K supports 6k/ 60fps and 4K/ 120fps. The camera gives rich color gradients with dual native EI of 800/5,000 and dynamic range of 14+ stops. Furthermore, the camera has its own DJI Cinema color system bringing natural skin tones and has built in nine stop ND filters.

Ronin 4D Gimbal system

Ronin 4D is the first camera to arrive with a 4-axis gimbal system and its Z- axis stabilization system allows it to shoot without shaking the video. Moreover, this stabilization system enables shooting while running, walking, and moving without stress of poor video quality. In addition, this camera has a Z axis range of approximately 130mm and maximum payload of 2000 grams. Furthermore, the camera control speeds system are through DJI Master wheels or DJI Force Pro and Ronin 4D hand grips.

Ronin 4D LiDAR system and transmission system

Ronin 4D with its professional LiDAR system gives sharp, fast and reliable focus. Moreover, the system measures 71×47×34 mm in dimension and weighs about 88 grams. The system works at temperatures ranging from -10° to 40° C and with precision of 1-10 m. In addition, the device gives a field of view of 30 cm to 3m at 45° and 30 cm to 10cm at 7°. Furthermore, the camera uses the DJI O3 Pro video transmission system with transmission range of about 20,000 feet. For stability, and no interference video, the transmission system supports DFS frequency band.

Ronin 4D battery life and Monitor system

Ronin 4D has support for a TB50 intelligent battery with a capacity of 4280mAh taking charging time of approximately 1.5 hours. Moreover, the camera has a 5.5-inches main monitor with rotating LCD touchscreen and 60Hz refresh rate.  In addition, the camera also arrives with a 7-inch remote monitor with 1920×1200 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. The remote consists of a DJI WB37 battery with a charging time of approximately 2 hours. Furthermore, the system has a 3.5mm stereo jack with SD card slot and HDMI port.

Other key specification

Ronin 4D is equipped with three storage options including USB SSD, PROSSD 1TB, and the CFexpress Type B card. Moreover, the camera arrives with microphones supporting 2 channel 24-bit audio. Other than this, the device arrives with ActiveTrack Pro feature for advanced and complete tracking shots. This ActiveTrack Pro system uses the latest Artificial intelligence from DJI to track subjects from distance and adjust image composition with that.
